Working with families in addiction is not what you might think. The undercurrents in a family system make help and support virtually counter-intuitive.
The treatment industry is weighted, heavily weighted in the direction of the addicted individual. Families and loved-ones need specific care and treatment that is not covertly geared to supporting the addict. Learning how to work with the pre-conscious agendas of a family system is a delicate and specialised discipline. Supporting families to face powerlessness and begin to reclaim their lives from another's addiction is the goal of the training I offer. It is very hard to be present to the freedom of another.
It is shown that working with families improves the chances of an overall positive outcome by up to 70%. I provide training in how to conduct, facilitate and contain family members in an intensive programme.
I have set up and run effective family programmes for The Priory, Roehampton, Priory North London, Nightingale Hospital, Start2Stop, London, Farm Place, Surrey, Camino Recovery, Spain., AAS Recovery, Karachi, Pakistan, Clouds House, Wilts.
